I got unlimited hugs and high fives for anyone who can help out. First 15 to donate get a special edition chapbook I will print up ONLY for you. <3
So my NPS teammates and I are working on group pieces-this is so new and weird to me. So far Ethan and I have a rough start on a funny group piece about being virgins and Will and I are working on expanding a piece he wrote about a man named Leo Alexander Jones who was convicted and put to death for a crime he didn’t commit-will’s piece was a love letter to his wife on the day of his execution and I am writing the wife’s love letter to him.I am still working on injecting more love/tenderness in my draft but so far I am very happy with it. I feel like they will compliment one another very nicely. Hopefully I’ll be able to share it soon.
I am excited to say that I will be making my first submission to Write Bloody this year. I have sort of decided that this is a process that may take a while to get right but I want to at least begin this year. To do so I need to select my three strongest poems but I am having lots of trouble deciding which ones. I absolutely LOVE that their submission fee is to buy a Write Bloody book..Please give me an excuse to buy a Write Bloody book! This is also a crazy tough choice but I mostly have my eye on Jon Sands’ New Clean. I heart me some Jon Sands something fierce but I also feel weird about buying his book without him being present to write me one of his amazing inscriptions. I also VERY much want the Learn then Burn workbook. Oh decisions!
Also in terms of submission I am going to send a few tracks off to one of my favorite podcasts IndieFeed Performance Poetry. Also need to decide which tracks to send in.
I believe this week the Writing Group I am a part of begins the process of putting together our 30/30 Chapbook. This thing should be some kind of awesome.
I have a friend who just sent me some info on putting a show together in Cincy at the Know Theater. I have some grand ideas for an awesome show to take down there so keep your ears open for that. In the nearer future I am featuring at two venues in Columbus this month and June is jam packed with awesomeness what with the Columbus Arts Fest, Rustbelt, and Ethan and I taking our show on the road to NEW JERSEY! Come get some <3
So we survived the rain and the busy of April and the 30/30 challenge.
I am somewhat sad to say that I did not make it to 30 poems again this year but there is always next year. I have posted 16 of the 20 I did finish on this site. I still have 2 poems to transfer over and 2 I did not wish public eyes to see for various reasons. This was the first year I did this in such a structured manor. My writing group posted specific prompts each day. I liked the structure but did find myself feeling a little boxed in a few times. I am excited to go explore some of the prompts that were posted by other people and groups during April-I feel like having a set of my own prompts let me bank those prompts written by other for my regular writing.
If you participated how did your 30/30 go?
April was a busy month. Writing Wrongs Poetry held their Grand Slam. I am excited to say I made the team and cannot wait to go to Boston in August! The team is Myself, Ethan Rivera (aka my wonder Twin), William Evans, and Jason Brazwell! Dare I say this team has serious door kicking potential!
Also in April I recorded and put together my first CD! “All of the Spoons in My Kitchen”
The month of May is for editing and submitting poems. I will be using the next few days trying to decide which 3 poems I will submit to Write Bloody publishing for their first round of submissions. Any thoughts?
I’ve got a few new events and upcoming shows posted so please check that link out and come see me. If you are interested in buying merch or booking a feature please shoot me an email! LOVE <3
